Swimming & Diving Travels West For Tennessee Invitational

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The UNC swimming and diving team returns to the pool this week as the Tar Heels head west to Knoxville for the Tennessee Invitational this Thursday through Saturday (Nov. 17-19) at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center. The meet will be streamed live daily on SEC Network+.
On the ladies' side, the No. 17 Tar Heels will compete against No. 1 Virginia, Nov. 7 Tennessee and No. 14 Michigan, while No. 23 Carolina will face off against No. 9 Virginia, No. 13 Tennessee and No. 16 Michigan in the men's competition.
Carson-Newman (swimming only), Duke (diving only), Florida Gulf Coast (women's diving only), Georgia Southern (women's diving only) and South Carolina (diving only) are competing in portions of the meet.
The invitational will be scored like dual meets (team-vs-team basis) as opposed to an overall winner for the five teams swimming (Carson-Newman, Michigan, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia). Each team can advance a maximum of three swimmers to the A final. Only the top five from each pair of teams would score and a B finalist could not score above an A finalist. Swimmers are limited to four scoring events.
The Tar Heels last competed on November 5, sweeping a dual meet from South Carolina. Fifth-year senior Grace Countie posted an NCAA B qualifying time in the women's 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke against UofSC, while Greer Pattison also registered an NCAA B cut in the 100-yard backstroke.
The UNC men's and women's teams are each 3-0 in dual meet competition this season.
