Volleyball Falls On The Road To Florida State In Four

TALLAHASSE, Fla. – The Carolina volleyball team (15-12, 7-9 Atlantic Coast Conference) fell to Florida State (18-9, 10-6 ACC) in four sets (25-14, 18-25, 23-25, 18-25) on Friday evening in Tully Gymnasium.
Behind her thirteenth double-double of the season, sophomore Mabrey Shaffmaster led the Tar Heels both offensively and defensively with a career-best 23 digs, 15 kills and a pair of blocks.
Graduate Charley Niego also tallied her thirteenth double-double of the season behind 14 kills and 10 digs, while Skyy Howard and Liv Mogridge each had six kills apiece.
Karenna Wurl led Carolina at the service line with a pair of aces, while one ace from each Shaffmaster, Niego and Maddy May brought the Tar Heels' total to five in the match.
Anita Babic paced the offense with 33 assists.
North Carolina held a slight attacking advantage over Florida State in the match, .177-.173, while the Seminoles outblocked the Tar Heels 9-6.
NOTABLES:
The Tar Heels return to Carmichael Arena for the final two matches of the regular season, first hosting Duke on Nov. 23 and then Virginia on Nov. 26.
