Volleyball Hosts Duke And Virginia To Finish 2022 Regular Season Slate

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Carolina volleyball team (15-12, 7-9 Atlantic Coast Conference) returns home this week for its final two matches of the 2022 regular season. The Tar Heels host Duke on Wednesday at 2 p.m. and Virginia on Saturday at 1 p.m. Both matches will be streamed on ACCNX.
SERIES BREAKDOWN
vs. Duke (16-12, 7-10 ACC)
Series: Carolina leads the series 67-57
In Carmichael: Carolina is 30-21 against Duke at home
Last time: Carolina won 3-1 in Durham on Oct. 23, 2022
Trend: Carolina has won four straight and eight out of the last nine against the Blue Devils
vs. Virginia (12-15, 4-12 ACC)

- Maddy May currently ranks third in digs in Carolina's freshman record book with 329 digs on the season and sixth in aces with 35. The freshman libero is ranked No. 9 in the conference in aces, averaging .35/set, and is the only freshman in the top-10
- Shaffmaster and Charley Niego each have a team-best 13 double-doubles on the season, which is the third-most of any player in the ACC. Freshman Anita Babic has five, followed by May who has one
- The Tar Heels rank No. 1 in the ACC in service aces, averaging 1.79 per set, led by Parker Austin who ranks second in the conference with a .46 aces/set average
- Carolina head coach Joe Sagula (33 seasons) and Duke head coach Jolene Nagel (24 seasons) are the two most veteran coaches in the conference (in terms of number of seasons spent at their respective ACC schools)
