Honeycutt Named Collegiate Baseball Preseason All-America

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – University of North Carolina sophomore outfielder Vance Honeycutt has been named first-team preseason All-America by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, which released its 2023 preseason All-America teams on Monday.
As a freshman he produced a memorable rookie campaign, slashing .296/.409/.672 with 25 home runs, 57 RBIs and 29 stolen bases, and became the first 20-20 player in program history.
He hit .384 during the final 24 games of the season with an OPS of 1.486 while smashing 15 home runs and driving in 33 to lead the Tar Heels to the ACC Tournament title and a Super Regional appearance.
Honeycutt finished the year ranked ninth among NCAA Division I players in home runs and 23rd in stolen bases and total bases (166). He finished second in the ACC in stolen bases, fourth in home runs and triples (4), and 10th in slugging percentage.
The Salisbury, N.C. native was tabbed third-team All-America by Baseball America, D1 Baseball and Perfect Game. In addition, Honeycutt was selected to five freshmen All-America squads.
He was also named third-team All-ACC last season and was named to the conference's all-freshmen team.
Honeycutt started all 64 games in center field as a freshman, batting leadoff in 29 games and cleanup in 19 games. He recorded 22 multi-hit games and 17 multi-RBI games.
The Tar Heels open the 2023 season Feb. 17 at Boshamer Stadium against Seton Hall.
