Shaffmaster Earns AVCA All-Region Honors

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Mabrey Shaffmaster was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-East Region team, the organization announced Tuesday.
A sophomore from New Castle, Ind., Shaffmaster is earning AVCA All-Region honors for the second season in a row. She was named the East Coast Region Freshman of the Year and was named to the East Coast All-Region Honorable Mention team in 2021.
This season, the outside hitter has started 28 matches, racking up 407 kills and averaging 3.91 kills per set, the fourth highest of any player in the conference in the regular season. She tallied 284 digs, the second-most on the team, 30 service aces, 40 blocks and leads the Tar Heels in points per set (4.43). The 6-foot-1 outside hitter recorded 13 double-doubles, tied for most on the team and third-most in the ACC, and double-digit kills in 23 matches, including 18 of the last 19 matches of the season.
