Meet The Diamond Heels: Dalton Pence

The eighth installment of the Meet The Diamond Heels series features Cherryville native Dalton Pence. Pence is a left-handed pitcher and will wear the No. 49.
Pence was a four-year letterman for coach Scott Heavner at Cherryville High School, earning all-state honors as senior. In five starts during the 2021 season, Pence went 4-0 with a 1.50 ERA. He surrendered just five runs in 23.1 innings of work and struck out 56 batters while issuing only nine walks. Opposing batters hit.139 against him. He fanned 10 or more batters three times with a career-high 17 Lincoln Charter hitters on May 14.

"I've been a North Carolina fan for as long as I can remember," Pence said. "When I met the players and coaches up there on my visit, everything felt like home. I've always felt like I had a support system here, and I know I'll have one when I go there as well."

He is the son of Lisa and Mike Pence and has an older brother, Ryan.
