Meet The Diamond Heels: Alden Segui

The third day of February includes the fourth installment of the Meet Diamond Heels series and introduces freshman right-handed pitcher Alden Segui. The Tampa, Fla., native was a two-year letterman at Tampa Jesuit High School and will wear the No. 31 at Carolina.

Recently ranked as the No. 22 recruiting class in the country by DI Baseball, Carolina's crop of newcomers includes 12 freshmen and four transfers. Segui came to UNC ranked as the No. 230 player nationally on top of being the No. 32 player and No. 9 right-handed pitcher in Florida.

Segui participated in the 2020 Perfect Game National Showcase and was a two-time First Team All-Florida pitcher.

As a senior he compiled a 4-1 record with a 2.45 ERA, while striking out 48 batters in 25.2 innings pitched. He earned one of those four wins as part of a combined no-hitter against Tampa Catholic.

A distant relative of former Major Leaguers Diego and David Segui, baseball is his blood. Alden's uncle, Alcides Segui was a four-year letterman on the diamond at Florida A&M.

He was born in Tampa to Mica and Alexander Segui and is the second of their three children. He has an older brother, AJ and a younger sister, Anabella. He plans to pursue a degree in biomedical and health engineering.
