LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Carolina softball team fell to Louisville in the series-finale on Sunday afternoon, 5-2. The Cardinals clinched the series over the Tar Heels with the victory.
Freshman Lilli Backes (6-13) took the loss in the circle despite her five strikeouts, allowing five earned runs in five innings. Carlie Mrtyle threw the last inning, allowing no hits and just one walk.
Offensively, the Tar Heels (20-20, 5-10 ACC) couldn't get much going, with five different players each recording one hit. Sara Jubas and Kianna Jones each had an RBI in the loss.
