WTEN Begins Title Defense Friday Against FSU

ROME, Georgia – North Carolina has once again earned the top seed for the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Tennis Championship, from the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College in Rome, Georgia.
The five-time defending champion Tar Heels will see their first tournament action on Friday at 3:30 p.m., when they take on eight seed Florida State, who knocked off Notre Dame, 4-0, in a second-round match on Thursday.
North Carolina (23-1, 12-1 ACC) is 7-0 against the Seminoles at the ACC Championship with the last meeting coming back in 2017.
Six ACC teams – the most of any conference – are ranked in the April 20 ITA Collegiate Tennis Top 25 Rankings – No. 1 North Carolina, No. 3 NC State, No. 5 Duke, No. 7 Virginia, No. 13 Miami and No. 24 Wake Forest.
The ACC Championship has been held twice previously in Rome, Georgia, in 2017 and 2021. Carolina prevailed by knocking off Georgia Tech in both finals.
ACC Network Extra will carry both the men's and women's semifinals and finals on Saturday April 23 and Sunday, April 24, respectively. The men's semifinals are set for 10 a.m., while the women's will be played at 2 p.m. Sunday's title matches begin at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively. An ACC women's tennis recap show will air on ACC Network, May 9 at 7 p.m., followed by a men's tennis recap show at 9 p.m.
