Softball Drops Series-Opener to No. 24 Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -Â The Carolina softball team dropped its series-opener to No. 24 Notre Dame on Friday night, 4-1.

The Irish out-hit the Tar Heels 10-4 in the loss, with Notre Dame's pitcher Payton Tidd recording eight strikeouts. Carolina also left eight stranded on base.

Senior Hannah George (10-7) took the loss in the circle, allowing nine hits and three runs in four innings. Talia Hannappel pitched the remaining two innings, limiting the Irish to one hit and one run.

Sara Jubas tallied her seventeenth double of the season, while Skyler Brooks, Bri Stubbs and Aneshia Jordan each had a stolen base.
