
Tar Heels Grab Top Seed In ACC WLAX Tournament

GREENSBORO (theACC.com) – North Carolina has earned the top seed in the 2022 ACC Women's Lacrosse Championship. The first three rounds of the nine-team tournament will be hosted by Notre Dame at Arlotta Stadium in Notre Dame, Ind., later this week. The championship game then will be hosted by the highest remaining seed on Saturday, May 7.
North Carolina is the five-time reigning tournament champion, winning the title every year since 2016 (the 2020 championship was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
The tournament opens Wednesday, April 27, with a first-round matchup between No. 8 seed Pitt (8-9, 1-7 ACC) and No. 9 seed Louisville (7-10, 1-7). Game time is 2 p.m.
Four quarterfinal matchups will be contested on Friday, April 29. North Carolina (15-0, 8-0 ACC) opens the day at noon against the Pitt-Louisville winner. No. 4 seed Duke (15-2, 6-2) and No. 5 seed Notre Dame (8-8, 3-5) follow at approximately 2:30 p.m.
No. 2 seed Boston College (14-2, 6-2) and No. 7 seed Virginia Tech (9-8, 2-6) face off at approximately 5 p.m., while No. 3 seed Syracuse (13-4, 6-2) takes on No. 6 seed Virginia (8-8, 3-5) in the nightcap at approximately 7:30 p.m.
The North Carolina-Pitt-Louisville winner plays the Duke-Notre Dame winner at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, in the semifinals, while the Boston College-Virginia Tech and Syracuse-Virginia winners are scheduled to match up at 3:30 p.m.
The championship game will be played Saturday, May 7, at 6 p.m. The highest remaining seed of the two finalists will host.
All eight games of the tournament will be televised on ACC Network and also will be available on ACC Network Extra.
Six ACC women's lacrosse teams are ranked in the latest Inside Lacrosse Women/IWLCA poll, including four of the top five. North Carolina is ranked No. 1 nationally this week and is followed by Boston College (3), Syracuse (4), Duke (5), Virginia (16) and Notre Dame (18). The ACC has the most teams in the poll among all conferences.
ACC teams hold three of the top four positions and four of the top 12 in the latest NCAA RPI: North Carolina (1), Syracuse (2), Boston College (4) and Duke (12).

All-Session and Individual Session tickets for the ACC Championship are available through the Notre Dame Ticket Office and can be purchased on the Notre Dame website at www.und.com. All-Session tickets are good for all seven games of the tournament that are played at Notre Dame.
All-Session passes are $20 for adults and $10 for Youth (age 7-17), Seniors (age 55+). Individual session tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for Youth (age 7-17) and Seniors (age 55+). Admission is free for children 6 and under.
