Four Tar Heels Named NWCA Scholar All-America

CHAPEL HILL - Four members of the North Carolina wrestling team were recognized as Scholar All-America by the National Wrestling Coaches Association on Friday.
Kizhan Clarke (Law) earned his third Scholar All-America honor after doing so in 2021 and 2020 at American University. Clay Lautt (Master Accounting) earned his second Scholar All-America honor after doing so in 2020. Redshirt-junior Joe Heilmann (Economics) and redshirt-senior Austin O'Connor (Exercise & Sport Science, Sports Administration, Communication Studies) earned the honor for the first time in their careers.
The four All-America selections are the most in program history. Clay Lautt is the third Tar Heel wrestler ever to be named a two-time NWCA Scholar All-America.
This year's individual Scholar All-America teams featured 289 individuals representing 74 institutions. The list also includes 188 national qualifiers, 56 All-Americans, 13 national finalists, and six national champions.
