No. 1 WTEN Hosts Florida Friday In Super Regionals

CHAPEL HILL - Top seed North Carolina and No. 16 seed Florida will clash in the super regional round of the 2022 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championship on Friday from Cary Tennis Park at 4 p.m. ET.Â
The match will be streamed live on the TennisONE app.Â
The super regional round was established in 2019 with the purpose of sending the final eight teams remaining in the 64-team field to the host site of the NCAA Championships. The winner of Friday's match will head to Champaign, Illinois, with hopes of hoisting the trophy at the University of Illinois' Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex.
REGIONALS ROUNDUP
Carolina swept South Carolina State and South Carolina by identical 4-0 scores to advance out of regionals for the 12th time in a row.Â
Florida advanced out of regionals for the first time since 2017 after defeating South Alabama and Florida State last weekend in Gainesville, Florida.Â

McCartney Kessler, the 2022 SEC Player of the Year, has been selected to compete in the NCAA Singles Championship, while Carly Briggs and Marlee Zein earned a bid to the doubles championship.
Series History in NCAA Championship: Florida won the only previous meeting between the two programs at the 2010 semifinals. The Tar Heels made their first appearance in the NCAA Final Four, but it was Florida that came away with a 4-0 win in Athens, Georgia.Â
