Eight Tar Heels Earn All-Region Honors From IWLCA

CHAPEL HILL—Eight University of North Carolina women's lacrosse players claimed spots on the 2022 IWLCA All-South Region Team, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association announced on Thursday.

Six of the 16 members of the first team were Tar Heels: attackers Scottie Rose Growney and Jamie Ortega, midfielder Ally Mastroianni, defenders Emily Nalls and Emma Trenchard and goalie Taylor Moreno. Tar Heel sophomore attacker Caitlyn Wurzburger and freshman defender Brooklyn Walker-Welch were on the second team.

All of these Tar Heels are now eligible for inclusion in the IWLCA All-America Teams, to be announced later this month.

Carolina will open 2022 NCAA Tournament play on Sunday May 15 against either Southern California or Virginia.
