Honeycutt Named To D1 Baseball Freshman All-America Team

CHAPEL HILL – University of North Carolina outfielder Vance Honeycutt has been named to the D1Baseball.com Freshman All-America First Team, it was announced by the organization on Friday.
It's Honeycutt's fifth freshman All-America accolade as he was also named to squads by Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball, National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Perfect Game. He joins Aaron Sabato as the only Tar Heels to be lauded with the honor by five publications.
He was previously tabbed third team All-America by Baseball America, D1 Baseball and Perfect Game.
The Salisbury native earned the merit after producing a memorable rookie campaign, slashing .296/.409/.672 with 25 home runs, 57 RBIs and 29 stolen bases. He hit .384 during the final 24 games of the season with an OPS of 1.486 while smashing 15 home runs and driving in 33.
Honeycutt ranked second among all NCAA Division I freshmen in home runs, runs scored (66), total bases (166) and third in slugging percentage and stolen bases as well as fourth in triples (4). His 25 home runs were second-most by a freshman in ACC lore and third-most in NCAA history.
The Tar Heels finished the season with a 42-22 overall record, captured their 12th ACC championship and won their 14th regional title.
