UNC Picked Third In ACC Women's Soccer Preseason Poll

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – UNC was picked third in the 2022 ACC Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches poll the league announced on Thursday.
Carolina senior Maycee Bell and junior Sam Meza were both named to the preseason All-ACC squad. Bell earned first-team all-conference honors each of the last two seasons, while Meza was a second-team all-conference player as a sophomore after earning third-team honors as a freshman.
The Tar Heels, who finished tied for sixth place in the ACC last season, accumulated 150 points and received four first-place votes. Duke led the way with 156 points with three first-place votes followed by 2021 ACC regular season champion Virginia with 153 points and four first-place votes.
Reigning ACC and NCAA champion Florida State received three first-place votes and tallied 143 points to finish fourth in the voting.
Clemson finished fifth (115), followed by Notre Dame (108) in sixth with NC State (90) and Wake Forest (90) tied for seventh.
Virginia Tech (79), Pitt (66), and Louisville (47) were voted ninth through 12th. Boston College (36), Miami (21), and Syracuse (20) rounded out the voting.
Florida State had a league-high three players named to the preseason all-conference team with Duke and Virginia joining UNC with two selections each.
The Tar Heels will host their final exhibition game of the season on Saturday, Aug. 13, against BYU at 6 p.m. at Dorrance Field. Admission is free.
