August 18, 2022 | Women's Soccer
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina senior defender Maycee Bell is one of 60 NCAA Women's Division I college soccer players named to the 2022 Hermann Trophy Watch List.
The Hermann Trophy, presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club, is the nation's highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by the voting of Division I coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches. The 2022 winner will be revealed on Jan. 6, 2023, at a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, Mo.
Bell earned second-team All-America honors last season after earning first-team All-ACC accolades for the second consecutive season. She has started 55 of 56 games played during her UNC career with five goals and two assists.
She anchored a back line that has produced 42 clean sheets over the last three seasons. The Tar Heels have ranked among the Top 10 in goals against average in two of the past three seasons, finishing with the third-lowest average in 2019 (0.399).
Bell was named ACC Freshman of the Year in 2019 after leading UNC in minutes played (2,161) despite missing complete games against Arkansas and Pitt and playing only the first halves against UNLV and Belmont.
Bell and her No. 10 Carolina teammates will lift the lid on the 2022 season tonight at 7 p.m. against No. 11 Tennessee on Dorrance Field.
