Carter Hicks Named Baseball Director Of Player And Program Development

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Carter Hicks has been named director of player and program development at the University of North Carolina according to an announcement from head baseball coach Scott Forbes on Friday.
A UNC graduate, Hicks spent the past four years with USA Baseball including the last three as its director of operations after being promoted from assistant director of baseball administration.
"I'm so thankful to Coach Forbes for allowing me to return to my alma mater and to serve the UNC baseball program," Hicks said. "It was an absolute privilege to work at USA Baseball the past four years and I have the utmost gratitude and appreciation for the experiences, relationships, and opportunities that it provided me.
"Carolina is a special place and I'm looking forward to helping our student-athletes achieve their goals both on the field and in the classroom."
Hicks was a student manager for the Tar Heels from 2015-18, serving as head student manager each season. During that span, Carolina reached the NCAA Baseball Championship twice, advancing to the College World Series in 2018.
"We are so excited to have Carter back as a member of our baseball program," Forbes said. "His passion for our university will help our student-athletes excel both academically and athletically.
"Carter did some amazing things with USA Baseball and we're fortunate to have him as a member of our staff."
During his stint as director of operations with USA Baseball, Hicks served as the program director for the MLB Draft Combine, the tournament director for the National High School Invitational and coordinator of the National Collegiate Teams program.
He served as operations coordinator for silver-medalist Team USA at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Hicks also oversaw the management and execution of the organization's relationship with Trackman, including the scheduling and training of taggers and ensuring a seamless flow of data communication between USA Baseball, the Office of the Commissioner of Baseball, and its 30 clubs.
He earned his bachelor's degree in economics from UNC in 2018 and received his MBA from Campbell in 2021.
