Bell Named To United Soccer Coaches Watch List

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The United Soccer Coaches announced the defenders on its NCAA Division I Women's Players to Watch list for the 2022 season with UNC senior Maycee Bell among the 35 selected.
The list includes United Soccer Coaches All-America and first or second-team all-region players from 2021, who are scheduled to return for the 2022 season.
A native of Wichita, Kansas, Bell was a United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-America and First Team All-Atlantic Region performer last season. She started all 17 games that she played and logged 1,443 minutes, playing 90 or more minutes in 13 games. Bell was on the field for all 110 minutes in double overtime ties against Florida State, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.
Bell tallied five points with two goals and an assist as a junior in 2021. She scored the game-winning goal six minutes into overtime against Stanford and assisted on Emily Colton's game-tying goal against Virginia Tech in the 87th minute after UNC trailed 2-0.
Bell was one of four ACC players on the list along with Megan Bornkamp (Clemson), Delaney Graham (Duke), and Eva Gaetino (Notre Dame).
The Tar Heels will play their final exhibition Saturday, Aug. 13, at Dorrance Field against BYU at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
