May Named ACC Volleyball Freshman Of The Week

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - After helping Carolina to a pair of wins, freshman libero Maddy May has been named the ACC Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. It is the first weekly honor of May's career and the first weekly award of the season for the Tar Heels.

May tallied a combined team-best 50 digs in Carolina's three matches, recording a new career-best of 18 digs vs. Charlotte on Sep. 6, before re-setting her career-best with 19 digs vs. Michigan on Sep. 10. The Winterville, N.C. native, also had a service ace in each of the three matches and averaged a team-best 5 digs per set.

Up next, the Tar Heels travel to Richmond, Va. for the VCU invitational on Sep. 16-17, taking on Old Dominion, VCU and UMBC.
