CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – UNC junior midfielder Sam Meza was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week the league office announced on Tuesday with the release of its weekly honors. It is the first weekly accolade of her career.
Meza helped No. 2 North Carolina post a 2-0 week with a 3-0 non-conference road win over No. 3 Duke on Thursday and a 2-1, come-from-behind win over UCF at home on Sunday. In the 132 total minutes she played last week, UNC did not allow a goal while Duke and UCF combined for just six shots.
