Heels Hold Lengthy Scrimmage On Wednesday

Chapel Hill, NC --Â With this coming weekend's weather looking very uncertain, the North Carolina Tar Heels will only hold two scrimmages this week. The Heels held an 11 1/2 inning scrimmage on Wednesday with Navy taking a 5-3 win over Blue and will scrimmage again on Thursday. Â
Blue picked up the first run of the day when Reece Holbrook scored on a fielder's choice in the third. Navy tied the score in the fourth on Casey Cook's RBI-double to center. Blue went back ahead 2-1 in the fifth when Jesse Jaconski drove in a run with a single to center.
Navy tied things up again in the seventh on a nice safety squeeze with Casey Cook at the plate. Navy then took the lead for good in the seventh. With the bases loaded, Joe Jaconski cleared them with a double to deep right center for a 5-2 lead. Blue would score a run on an error in the ninth before Vance Honeycutt drilled a 412-foot solo homer to right center to give Navy the final 6-3 lead.
Joe Jaconski lead all hitters by going 3-6 with three RBI. Vance Honeycutt was 2-5 with one RBI. Reece Holbrook was 2-4 with a double, Patrick Alvarez was 2-5 and Jesse Jaconski went 2-4 with one RBI.
Eight Tar Heels saw action on the mound: Kevin Eaise, Will Sandy, Connor Bovair, Nik Pry, Nelson Berkwich, Carson Starnes, Nick Argento and Michael Colonna.
Carolina will scrimmage again on Thursday.
