Honeycutt Named Perfect Game Preseason ACC Player Of The Year

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The preseason accolades continue to roll in for UNC sophomore center fielder Vance Honeycutt, who was named Preseason ACC Player of the Year by Perfect Game on Friday.
A consensus Freshman All-America player a season ago, Honeycutt ranked second among all NCAA Division I freshmen in home runs (25), runs scored (66) and total bases (166), and was third in slugging percentage (.672) and stolen bases (29).
He started all 64 games in center field, while hitting leadoff in 29 games and cleanup in 19 others. The Salisbury, N.C. native finished his rookie campaign hitting .296 with 57 RBIs and ranked among the top 15 in the ACC in base on balls (12th), home runs (4th), slugging percentage (10th), stolen bases (2nd), total bases (6th) and triples (4th).
Honeycutt became the first player in school history to hit 20 home runs and steal 20 bases in the same season. He is the ACC's leading returning home run hitter and base stealer.

Honeycutt and the Diamond Heels open the 2023 season on Feb. 17 against Seton Hall at Boshamer Stadium.
