More Preseason All-America Honors For Honeycutt

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – University of North Carolina sophomore outfielder Vance Honeycutt continues to receive high acclaim from the national baseball media outlets as he was selected First Team Preseason All-America by DI Baseball and Second Team Preseason All-America by Baseball America on Monday.
Honeycutt was previously named First Team Preseason All-America by Collegiate Baseball and Perfect Game. DI Baseball and Perfect Game also chose him to be selected as the 2023 ACC Player of the Year.
As a freshman he slashed .296/.409/.672 with 25 home runs, 57 RBIs and 29 stolen bases to become the first 20-20 player in school history. His 25 home runs were a program single-season and freshman record. Honeycutt ranked in the top 5 in the ACC in steals (2nd), home runs (4th) and triples (5th). He hit .390 with 15 home runs and 33 RBIs in the final 23 games of the season.
Following the conclusion of the 2022 campaign, Honeycutt was named Third Team All-America by Baseball America, DI Baseball and Perfect Game and was a consensus Freshman All-America player.
The Salisbury, N.C., ranked second among all NCAA Division I freshmen in home runs, runs scored, total bases and third in slugging percentage and stolen bases as well as fourth in triples. Honeycutt was voted Most Outstanding Player of the ACC Championship with four home and 10 RBIs to lead the Tar Heels to their second tournament title in the last three seasons.
UNC opens the 2023 season on Feb. 17 against Seton Hall at Boshamer Stadium. Season, mini-season and single-game tickets are on sale at GoHeels.com.
