Blue Wins Game One Of Fall World Series

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Alberto Osuna went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a walk to lead the Blue team to a 4-2 victory over Navy in game one of UNC's annual Fall World Series at Boshamer Stadium on Wednesday.
Blue collected 12 hits with Anthony Donofrio going 3-for-4 and Gavin Gallaher recording a pair of hits, while the four pitchers combined to hold Navy to three hits.
Jake Knapp pitched 4 1/3 hitless innings and struck out five, Mason Yokum worked 1/3 inning and struck out one, Cam Padgett fanned two in 2 1/3 innings, and Will Simmons struck out three in two frames.
Osuna opened the scoring for Blue in the third with a two-out, bases loaded single up the middle that plated Tyler Parks from third and Alex Madera from second. Parks and Madera each ripped a one-out single before Donofrio and Osuna collected consecutive hits with two down.
Madera gave Blue a three-run lead with a sacrifice fly in the fourth, scoring Reece Holbrook.
Navy scored its first run in the fifth when Carter French was hit by a pitch, forcing Luke Stevenson home with the bases loaded. It added another run in the seventh when Eliot Dix lifted a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Ryker Galaska, who led off the inning with a double.
Blue extended its lead in the seventh as Osuna delivered an RBI-double inside the left field line to score Casey Cook from first base.
Ben Peterson, Kyle Percival, Matthew Matthijs, and Hugh Collins each pitched for Navy.
Game two of the Fall World Series will be played on Thursday, Oct. 26, at 2:30 p.m.
