Blue Wins Game Two Of Fall World Series

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Blue team scored six runs in the top of the fourth inning to claim a 6-2 win over Navy in UNC's annual Fall World Series on Thursday afternoon, sweeping the best-of-three game series following its 4-2 game one victory on Wednesday.
The two teams will play the series' final game on Saturday at Boshamer Stadium beginning at 5 p.m.
Navy took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second. John Long drove in the initial run with a fielder's choice RBI that scored Colby Wilkerson, who led off the frame with a single and advanced to third on a single through the left side by Eliot Dix.
Blue seized control in the fourth by drawing six walks, swiping two bases, and taking advantage of defensive and pitching miscues. Alex Madera scored the first run on a fielder's choice after he reached on an error to lead off the frame.
Reece Holbrook singled through the right side to drive home the second run and later scored on a wild pitch. Parker Haskin also scored on a wild pitch, and Tyler Parks scattered home from third on a failed pick-off attempt. Casey Cook drove in a run with a ground out to first base.
Parks Harber crushed a 398-foot home run to left-center field in the bottom of the fifth for Navy's second and final run of the game. He was the lone player to collect multiple hits, going 2-for-4.
Blue starting pitcher Jason DeCaro struck out five, including four in a row, in 3.0 innings pitched. DeCaro walked the first two batters he faced, then struck out the side to end the bottom of the first inning. Francesco Capocci and Mason Yokum combined for 2.0 innings. Ryan Fischer closed the game by striking out two in 2.0 hitless innings.
Ryan Hench finished the game for Navy, striking out three in 2.0 innings. Olin Johnson, Hugh Collins, Aidan Haugh, and Matthew Matthijs also pitched for Navy.
