October 5, 2023 | Field Hockey
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The top-ranked North Carolina field hockey team dives into a busy weekend with an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup with Boston College on Friday afternoon. The Tar Heels host the No. 11 Eagles at 4 p.m. at Karen Shelton Stadium.
The game will celebrate Mental Health Awareness and Morgan's Message, with messages of support throughout the stadium and on the video board.
There is no charge for admission and the first 100 students in attendance will receive a UNC cross-body bag.
UNC is 8-1 overall and 2-0 in ACC play. After four weeks in the No. 2 spot, the Tar Heels moved up this week to the top of the NFHCA poll.
The game features a matchup of sisters, as Tar Heel sophomore Ryleigh Heck faces off with her older sister, BC senior Kara Heck. Both scored goals in last year's meeting, a 4-3 Carolina win in Newton, Mass.
After facing BC, UNC turns its attention to No. 10 Liberty, which visits Chapel Hill on Sunday for a 2 p.m. game. That day is UNC's annual Power of Pink game, and the Tar Heels are raising funds to benefit the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. Fans can contribute to the Power of Pink fundraiser here.
