How It Happened
- Carolina was assertive to start the match, as Ally Sentnor unleashed a dangerous strike less than two minutes in which was ultimately stopped by Duke keeper Leah Freeman.
- Sentnor had another opportunity with a shot to the low center in the 20th minute, but her chance was again denied by Freeman.
- Duke found its rhythm during the latter portion of the first half, which saw Emmie Allen be forced to make two saves to maintain the scoreless tie heading into the break.
- UNC broke through in the 59th minute when Emerson Elgin's pass down the right lane found Emily Colton at the top of the 18-yard box. Taking advantage of open space, Colton fired off a shot that bounced off the crossbar and tucked into the side netting for her second of the year.
- Isabel Cox drew a foul inside the box 20 minutes later to award Carolina a penalty kick, but Avery Patterson's attempt from the spot was saved by Freeman.
- The Blue Devils leveled the score in the 89th minute with a goal from Kat Rader as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
- Carolina and Duke both had 10 shots, five which were on target. Patterson, Sentnor and Evelyn Shores had a team-high two.
- UNC's back line has held 13 of its 14 opponents to 10 shots or less, seven of those to five or fewer and three to only one.
- Colton's goal was her second this season, as she has now scored in back-to-back contests.
- Elgin's helper marked her second career assist, both which have come this season.
- Allen made four saves between the posts, as did Freeman.
- Allen, Maycee Bell, Elgin, Savy King and Emily Moxley logged a full 90 minutes.
