One Win Stands Between UNC And The FH Final Four

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The UNC field hockey team is one win away from the program's 27th appearance in the NCAA semifinals, and Sunday afternoon the Tar Hees will have the chance to earn that victory.
Harvard (16-3) and Carolina (15-3) face off at Karen Shelton Stadium Sunday at noon in an NCAA Tournament second round game, with the winner advancing to this year's final four, which will be played on the Tar Heels' home turf at Shelton Stadium. Game time is noon and the action will air live on ESPN+.
Tickets are available at the gate. Students from the participating schools get free admission. Tar Heel fans are encouraged to wear Carolina blue to the game.
Free parking for spectators is available in the Navy Field Lot and along Stadium Drive. There is no spectator parking in the Rams Head Deck for Sunday's game.
The Tar Heels are the top-seeded team in this year's tournament and advanced to the second round with a 6-1 win over William & Mary in Friday's first-round game. No. 9 Harvard beat No. 6 Rutgers 2-1 to advance.
Noting the matchup:
• There will be a Weber sister on both sides of the field Sunday, as UNC's Steph Weber faces off with her twin sister, Harvard's Taylor Weber. It's the first collegiate meeting between the two, both seniors.
• This will be the teams' first meeting in NCAA Tournament play.
NCAA Tournament Tar Heels
• The Tar Heels are making a record 40th appearance in the NCAA Tournament field. Sunday's game will be UNC's 108th in NCAA Tournament play, also a record.
• The Tar Heels have 78 NCAA Tournament wins, more than any other school. Maryland is second with 69 and Old Dominion is third with 50.
• North Carolina is 78-29 all-time in NCAA Tournament play.
• Former Tar Heel coach Karen Shelton holds the record for NCAA titles won by a single coach with 10, and she coached Carolina to its first 77 tournament wins. New coach Erin Matson picked up her first NCAA Tournament win as a coach on Friday.
• As a player, Matson holds the records for career goals (23) and points (54) in NCAA Tournament play. She was part of Carolina's national championship teams in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022.
