November 13, 2023 | Men's Soccer
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina men's soccer program has secured the No. 3 seed in the 2023 NCAA Division I Soccer Championship, the NCAA announced Monday afternoon.
The Tar Heels will host the winner of Memphis and SIU Edwardsvile in the second round on Sunday, November 19.
Carolina earned the No. 3 seed in the tournament after a 10-3-6 mark, on its way to an Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament runner-up finish.
The program continues a longstanding tradition of NCAA Championship soccer, making the postseason for the 30th time overall, and the 15th time in the past 16 years. Head coach Carlos Somoano, now in his 13th year at the helm, has guided Carolina to the national tournament 12 times.
The first round matches (Nov. 17), second round (Nov. 19), third round (Nov. 25-26) and quarterfinals (Dec. 1-2) will be held at campus sites, hosted by the higher seed in each matchup.
The 2023 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer College Cup will be held Dec. 8 and 11 from the Lynn Family Stadium in Louisville, Ky.
