November 8, 2023 | Men's Soccer
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A trio of North Carolina men's soccer players have been named to the 2023 All-ACC Teams, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced Wednesday morning.
Quenzi Huerman (First Team), Riley Thomas (Second Team) and Sam Williams (Third Team) are among the representation from the Tar Heels in the postseason honors.
A product of Vannes, France, Huerman has started in all 15 appearances during his graduate season in Chapel Hill. The forward ranks in the top-10 in the conference in points (5th - 21) and goals (6th – 9), leading the Tar Heels in both categories. Huerman becomes the first Tar Heel forward since Alan Winn (2017) to collect first-team honors from the league.
Collecting All-ACC honors for the first time in his career, Thomas has appeared in 13 contests this season, earning the start on 12 occasions. The Atlanta, Ga. native has logged 1,061 minutes on the season, playing the full 90 eight times. Thomas has helped anchor a Carolina defense that ranks first in the ACC in goals allowed (10) and goals allowed average (0.59/game).
Named to the 2023 ACC Preseason Watchlist, Williams has started in all 17 matches this year for Carolina. A consistent force for the Tar Heels, the Tenafly, N.J. product ranks second on the team with 1,489 minutes, playing the full 90 minutes in six of the eight ACC matchups. The honor is the second postseason recognition for Williams from the conference, after being named to the All-Freshman Team a season ago.
Carolina returns to action tonight at 6 PM, traveling to Syracuse for the ACC Tournament semifinals.
