Tar Heel Invitational Preview

CHAPEL HILL - The North Carolina fencing team is set to host their first regular season home meet in over ten years this Sunday. The Tar Heels will welcome Long Island University and the Air Force Academy into Eddie Smith Field House with bouts beginning at 9:00 a.m. 
The meet will begin with North Carolina taking on Long Island at 9:00 am, followed by North Carolina vs Air Force at 10:15 a.m. and Long Island vs Air Force at 11:45 a.m. The men's and the women's competitions will follow the same schedule and go on at the same time. 
This will be the Tar Heels' final regular season meet before the ACC Championships on February 25th and 26th. Sunday's bouts will be crucial as one of the final chances to get points toward qualifying for the NCAA Championships. 
The Tar Heel Invitational will be the second-ever event to take place at the newly redone Eddie Smith Field House, and the first non-track and field event to be held at the venue. 
Sunday will also serve as senior night for the fencing program. Nine different Tar Heels will be honored in a ceremony during the meet. 
The Tar Heel Invitational will be a Carolina Fever event. Students will have the opportunity to earn three fever points for attending. 
Parking will be located in the Boshamer Stadium lot and the Ram's Deck. 
Fans who won't be able to make the trip to Chapel Hill can watch all of the action on ACCNX and the ESPN app.
