Heels Conclude Pre-Season Scrimmages On Monday

Chapel Hill, NC --Â The North Carolina Tar Heels concluded their pre-season scrimmages on Monday afternoon on a beautiful day for baseball at the Bosh. The first three innings were normal with Blue leading 6-3 before the scrimmage became situational.
Eric Grintz drove in the first run of the scrimmage with an RBI-double to left in the first before scoring on a fielder's choice for a 2-0 Navy lead. Blue bounced back in the bottom of the inning on Max Riemer's 390 ft. three-run homer to right center for a 3-2 lead.
Navy pulled into a 3-3 tie in the top of the second on Jesse Jacsonski's run-scoring single up the middle. Blue went ahead 5-3 in the bottom of the inning when Reece Holbrook belted a 370-ft solo homer to right center before Hunter Stokely's RBI-single to right. Blue scored the last run of this part of the scrimmage when Colby Wilkerson drove in a run on a single to left for the final 6-3 margin.
The rest of the scrimmage was situational with a bevy of pitchers throwing one inning apiece. Due to the nature of the scrimmage there was no real box score so there are no statistics to report.
The Tar Heels will open the 2023 season this Friday when they play host to Seton Hall at 4:00 pm at Boshamer Stadium.
