Chapel Hill, NC -- The North Carolina Tar Heels wrapped up their second week of scrimmages as the Navy squad took a 6-4 win over Blue in a 6 1/2-inning scrimmage on Sunday afternoon at a cloudy Boshamer Stadium.
Reece Holbrook's sacrifice fly to left gave Navy a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first before an Eric Grintz run-scoring single promptly tied the score in the bottom of the inning. Navy picked up two more in the top of the second when Jesse Jaconski scored on a fielder's choice, then Austin Hawke drove in a run with a double to left for a 3-1 Navy lead.. Dylan King's RBI-double to left in the bottom of the second pulled Blue to within 3-2.
Navy picked up two more runs in the top of the fourth. Joe Jaconski scored on a bases-loaded walk before Max Riemer hit a sacrifice fly to left to put Navy up 5-2. Mac Horvath drove in a run for Blue with a single to left in the bottom of the inning to pull Blue within 5-3.
Blue picked up another run in the fifth on a nice Patrick Alvarez sacrifice bunt to pull within 5-4, but Navy quickly responded with a run in the sixth when Tomas Frick laid down a sacrifice bunt for the final 6-4 score.
