Six Swimmers Selected For NCAA Women's Championships

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Six UNC swimmers were selected to participate in the 2023 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships as the NCAA announced the qualifiers for this year's meet Wednesday.
North Carolina's invited swimmers include seniors Grace Countie (50 Free, 100 Free, 100 Back), Sophie Lindner (100 Back, 200 Back) and Ellie VanNote (100 Fly, 200 Fly) along with sophomores Olivia Nel (50 Free), Greer Pattison (100 Back, 100 Breast) and Skyler Smith (100 Breast).
Countie and Lindner will each be making her appearance at the NCAA Championships. A year ago Countie finished sixth in the 50 free and 100 back, and seventh in the 100 free, while Linder placed among the top 16 in the 100 and 200 backstroke.
VanNote, who earned a spot in the consolation finals of the 100 fly last season, will be competing in her third national championship meet, while Smith will be participating in her second and Smith her first.
Sophomores Georgia Nel and Elizabeth Sowards will head to the championship meet as relay alternates.
UNC divers are competing at the NCAA Zone B Championships this weekend to determine who qualify for the national meet.
