11 Tar Heels On NWSL Opening Day Rosters

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – A total of 11 players who are University of North Carolina alumnae are on opening day rosters for the 2023 National Women's Soccer League Season which begins this weekend, with all 12 teams in action March 25 and 26.
The Tar Heels are represented on seven teams, including two each on North Carolina Courage (Emily Fox, Briana Pinto), Portland Thorns (Crystal Dunn, Megan Kilngenberg), Racing Louisville FC (Jessica McDonald, Satara Murray) and Washington Spirit (Dorian Bailey, Amber Brooks).
Paige Nielsen is the lone Tar Heel on Angel City FC, Allie Long plays for NJ/NY Gotham FC, and Claudia Dickey plays for OL Reign.
The North Carolina Courage and Kansas City Current kick off the season on Saturday, March 25 at 2 p.m. on Paramount+. To view the complete league, click here.
