Record-Breaking Day For T&F At Wake Forest Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.—With strong performances across the board in several events, the University of North Carolina track and field teams had one of their best days of the season on Friday at the Wake Forest Invitational at Kentner Stadium.
Women's Highlights
• Jordan Fong turned in an all-time best performance in the hammer throw, winning the title at 63.49m (208-3). Her stellar toss propelled her into second place on UNC's all-time Top-10 performers list.
• JoEllen Driscoll starred in the women's discus with a throw of 175-7 (53.53m), which ranks No. 8 in Carolina history.
• Ella Auderset and Addison Pignetti both set personal bests in the women's 800m. Auderset cut nearly two seconds off her previous best with a heat victory.
• Sasha Neglia's lifetime-best 9:56.73 in the 3000m steeplechase was good for fourth place.
• Freshman Eva Klingbeil was the top Tar Heel finisher in the 5000m, finishing eighth in 16:02.21 in a stacked field. Brynn Brown and Ava Dobson both also posted top-20 finishes. All three set season-bests in the event, and Klingbeil's personal-best time moved her into No. 7 on the all-time UNC performers list.
Men's Highlights
• Jesse Hunt's lifetime-best 3:37.53 in the 1500m trails only the great Tony Waldrop and ranks No. 2 on the all-time Tar Heel Top-10 performers list.
• Roman Mitchell gave the Tar Heels their first win of the day, winning the javelin with a throw of 63.96 meters.
• Marshall Williamson posted a season-best 8:50.72 time in the 3000m steeplechase.
• Parker Wolfe finished second to lead five Tar Heels in the top 20 in the 5K. Wolfe's time of 13:25.38 vaulted him to second on UNC's all-time top performers list in the event. Ethan Strand (eighth), John Tatter (13th), Colton Sands (19th) and Crawford Hope (20th) also finished in the top 20. Strand's time of 13:46.81 in his 5K debut put him at No. 9 on the all-time UNC list.
