Top-Ranked Women's Tennis Dominates NC State, 7-0

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The UNC women's tennis team (25-0, 11-0 ACC), claimed a decisive 7-0 victory over No.7 NC State (17-3, 8-2 ACC).
The Tar Heels earned a hard-fought doubles point to start the afternoon. The No. 22 ranked doubles tandem of Elizabeth Scotty and Reese Brantmeier started the Tar Heels off on court one with a perfect 6-0 win. After dropping court three 2-6, the fate of the doubles point fell to court three, where the No. 6 ranked doubles team of Carson Tanguilig and Fiona Crawley won 6-3 to clinch the point.
Halfway through singles, the match got suspended due to lightning in the area.
After a 45 minute delay, No. 27 Anika Yarlagadda and No. 16 Tanguilig continued to dominate in route to straight set victories on courts six and three. The Raleigh native, and No. 25 Abbey Forbes would go to clinch the match for Carolina on court four.
Due to more inclement weather, No. 1-ranked Crawley, No. 15-ranked Brantmeier and No. 81 Scotty wrapped up a perfect day for the Tar Heels within the Cone-Kenfield indoor courts.
Scotty and Brantmeier completed victories with commanding third sets, while Crawley would win a 10-7 tie break.
Crawley, Brantmeier, and Tanguilig all added ranked victories to their already respectable resumes.
North Carolina has now won its last 25 matches, the third-longest winning streak in program history. The win over NC State also extended the Tar Heels home winning streak to 74 consecutive matches.
