No. 13 Men's Tennis Hosting No. 16 Duke Saturday
April 7, 2023 | Men's Tennis
The University of North Carolina men's tennis team, ranked 13th nationally in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll, will host No. 16 Duke in a key Atlantic Coast Conference match on Saturday.
The Tar Heels (15-6, 7-2 ACC) and Blue Devils (15-5, 8-1) will compete on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the beautiful, new Carolina Tennis Center. The match will follow immediately after the top-ranked UNC women host Wake Forest at 11 a.m. With the possibility of rain forecast throughout the day, the action could move to the adjacent Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center indoor courts.
The Carolina men, winners of eight of their last 10 matches, are coming off a thrilling, 4-3 victory over then-No. 16 Wake Forest last Sunday afternoon in Chapel Hill.
The Tar Heels are 7-2 in ACC action this season, third in the conference standings. Duke sits just ahead at 8-1, so a UNC win on Saturday would move the Tar Heels into a second-place tie with the Blue Devils with two matches remaining. Virginia is in first place at 8-0 entering this weekend.
Carolina will close the 2023 regular season next weekend with two more home matches vs. Florida State on Friday April 14 and Miami on Sunday April 16.
The 2023 ACC Championship will be April 19-23 in Cary, N.C.
