June 1, 2023 | Wrestling
GENEVA, OHIO - Twelve North Carolina wrestlers continue the 2023 freestyle season, heading to the Buckeye State for the 2023 U23 Nationals and U20 World Team Trials this Friday and Saturday at Spire Institute.Â
In total, 10 Tar Heels will be representing the Tar Heel Wrestling Club in the U23 division, with Spencer Moore and Jayden Scott earning spots in the U20 World Team Trials portion of the weekend.Â
At the US Open in April, Moore (57 KG) and Scott (65 KG) earned their way to the two-day event, used to help finalize the field for the 2023 United State World Team, which will compete at the 2023 World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.Â
In U23 action, Spencer Moore is the lone UNC wrestler at 57 KG, with Jace Palmer, Caden McCrary and Max Martin ready to compete at 61 KG. The 70 KG division will be highlighted by one Tar Heel in Wil Guida.Â
At 79 KG, North Carolina will be well represented, as Isaias Estrada, Marcus Murabito, Cade Tenold and Blah Dahnweih look to square off with some of the nation's best. Rounding out the action at 125 KG, Aydin Guttridge continues a busy summer on the mat for the Tar Heels.Â
