Horvath Named First Team All-Atlantic Region
June 13, 2023 | Baseball
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – UNC junior outfielder Mac Horvath has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-Atlantic Region First Team, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The Rochester, Minn. native was one of the best offensive players in the ACC, ranking second in home runs (24) and stolen bases (25), fourth in runs (73), seventh in doubles (21) and slugging percentage (.711), eighth in RBIs (66) and 10th in OPS (1.129).
Horvath became the first ACC player since 1999 – and first in school history – to steal 20 bases while hitting 20 home runs and 20 doubles in the same season. He posted career-highs in 10 offensive categories, while belting the second-most home runs at UNC in a single-season.
First Team All-Region selections are nominated for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I All-America teams will be announced the morning of Friday, June 16, before the start of the 2023 NCAA Division I College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
Founded in 1945, the American Baseball Coaches Association is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 15,000 members represent all 50 states and 40 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include nine divisions: NCAA Division I, II, and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School, Youth, and Travel.
