Volleyball Releases 2023 Schedule

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Thirteen home matches in Carmichael Arena highlight the 2023 schedule for the Carolina volleyball team. The Tar Heels open the season vs. Pacific in Tucson, Az., on Aug. 25 at the Cactus Classic, while Carolina's home opener comes on Aug. 31 vs. West Virginia. The Tar Heels will face five 2022 NCAA Tournament participants this season, including a national semifinalist and the national runner-up.
Before the official start to the season, Carolina will split in two for its annual Blue-White Scrimmage on Aug. 18 in Carmichael Arena. The following Friday, the Tar Heels travel to Arizona for three road matches to open the season. While in Tucson, the Tar Heels will face Pacific and host Arizona on Aug. 25 and UC Davis on Aug. 26.
Carolina then returns home for back-to-back home matches, taking on West Virginia on Aug. 31 and Loyola Maryland on Sep. 2.
The Tar Heels then head north for a pair of Big 10 matchups in the Great Lakes State, playing at Michigan State on Sep. 8 and at Michigan on Sep. 10.
UNC caps its non-conference schedule with a pair of home matches, vs. Santa Clara on Sep. 15 and vs. Coastal Carolina on Sep. 17.
Carolina kicks conference play at home, starting with a Sep. 22 matchup vs. Virginia in Carmichael Arena, before facing 2022 Final Four participant Pittsburgh on Sep. 24.
The Tar Heels then head to the Sunshine State, starting in Tallahassee with a Sep. 29 match at Florida State before traveling south to take on Miami on Oct. 1.
Carolina will then host 2022 national runner-up Louisville on Oct. 6 and Notre Dame on Oct. 8.
The Tar Heels kick off a five-match road stand on Oct. 13 at Syracuse before traveling to Boston College (Oct. 15), Clemson (Oct. 20), Georgia Tech (Oct. 22) and Duke (Oct. 25).
Carolina then returns to Carmichael for three matches: NC State (Oct. 29), Virginia Tech (Nov. 3) and Wake Forest (Nov. 5).
UNC's last two regular-season road matches will be at Wake Forest (Nov. 10) and at Louisville (Nov. 12), before wrapping up the regular season vs. Florida State (Nov. 19) and vs. Duke (Nov. 24) in Chapel Hill.
The 2023 NCAA Tournament begins on Nov. 30. The first four rounds will be hosted on campus sites according to seeding by the NCAA Selection Committee. The NCAA Semifinals and Championship will be held on Dec. 14 and 17 at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla.
