Four Tar Heels Invited To U-21 FH Team Trials

Four Tar Heels have earned invitations to USA Field Hockey's U-21 Junior Women's National Team Selection Camp, which will take place in January 2024. Charly Bruder, Hope Haynes, Ryleigh Heck and Kelly Smith were selected based on their performance at the recent Senior Nexus Championships.
Smith is a rising junior from Downingtown, Pa. She has started on the back line for UNC in each of the past two seasons.
Heck is a rising sophomore from Ocean City, N.J., who was named ACC Rookie of the Year in 2021. She ranked second on the team last season in goals (18) and points (38).
Bruder and Haynes will both be freshmen on the Carolina squad in 2023. Bruder is from Malvern, Pa., and Haynes is from Katy, Texas.
