No. 3 Women’s Soccer Faces Wisconsin Thursday At Home

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The third-ranked University of North Carolina women's soccer team is back at Dorrance Field on Thursday, Aug. 24, to play Wisconsin for its second match in a five-game home stretch.
Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET and will air on ACCNX with Kyle Straub and Daron Vaught on call. Tickets are available for purchase here.

Ten Things to Know
- North Carolina and Wisconsin both enter Thursday's match with a 1-0-1 record. UNC checked in at No. 3 in the recent United Soccer Coaches poll while Wisconsin received votes.
- This will be the seventh meeting between the two teams in program history, and first since 1997. UNC leads the all-time series at 6-0.
- Defender Savy King was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 22, becoming the first true UNC freshman to earn a league weekly honor since 2019.
- Three different Tar Heels scored in UNC's home opener on Aug. 20: Avery Patterson (3'), Melina Rebimbas (41') and Olivia Thomas (47'). All three goals were credited with double assists.
- It was the first career goal for Rebimbas and Thomas. Emerson Elgin and Mia Oliaro both pick up their first career point off assists.
- Rebimbas' goal was also UNC's 100th goal scored at Dorrance Field since its opening in 2019.
- Thursday is the second match in a five-game home stretch for the Tar Heels. UNC is 403-32-18 all-time at home, out-scoring its opponents 1,679-224.
- Sam Meza is one of 56 players in Division I named to the prestigious MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List.
- Meza joined Maycee Bell and Ally Sentnor on the Preseason All-ACC Team. UNC's three honorees were the most in the league.
- After being crowned regular season co-champion in 2022, UNC was picked first in the ACC preseason coaches poll with 10 first-place votes and 166 points.
