No. 3 Women’s Soccer Plays Wisconsin To 0-0 Draw

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Despite dominating possession and holding a 16-1 edge in shots, the third-ranked University of North Carolina women's soccer team battled Wisconsin to a scoreless draw on Thursday evening at Dorrance Field.
Following the tie, both the Tar Heels and the Badgers improve to 1-0-2 on the young season.
How It Happened
The third-ranked Tar Heels continue their five-game home stretch on Sunday, Aug. 27, when No. 24 USC comes to Chapel Hill. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET at Dorrance Field with the contest being aired on ACCNX.

How It Happened
- The best chance of the first half came from Tori Dellaperuta getting on the end of a Mia Oliaro through ball, nearly putting the ball between the keeper's legs on a breakaway.
- The Tar Heels saw a season-low four shots during the opening frame, as both teams went into locked at 0-0.
- The game came to life in the second half, with the Tar Heels getting off 12 shots and forcing five saves from Wisconsin keeper Erin McKinney.
- Maycee Bell and Olivia Thomas both had scoring chances off corners, as Bell forced a point-blank save and Thomas' strike hit the crossbar.
- Ally Sentnor nearly found the game-winner in the 86th minute, but her attempt from eight yards out forced a diving save from McKinney.
- The Tar Heels defense stood firm, limiting the Badgers to just one shot the entire contest, which came 60 minutes into the match.
- Unable to convert any of their chances, the Tar Heels saw their second scoreless draw this season.
- Owning two-thirds possession, Carolina held a 16-1 advantage in shots and an 8-1 edge in corners.
- Thomas and Sentnor led the game in shots with four apiece.
- UNC's collective defense, which limited Wisconsin to only one shot, has held its opponents to under five shots in all three games thus far.
- Between the posts, Emmie Allen finished with one save while McKinney tallied eight.
- Allen, Bell, King and Emily Moxley logged a full 90 minutes for the third game in a row.
