Honeycutt Named To D1 Baseball Top Draft Prospects List

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – UNC outfielder Vance Honeycutt was named to the D1Baseball 2024 MLB Draft: Top 100 College Prospects list.
The Tar Heel junior was the second-highest-rated outfielder on the list, checking in at No. 11 overall. The Salisbury, N.C. native earned third-team All-ACC honors each of his first two seasons in Chapel Hill and was voted the 2023 ACC Defensive Player of the Year. He was a consensus All-America freshman in 2022.
Honeycutt missed the final 10 games of the 2023 season due to injury, ending the season with a .257 batting average and an OPS of .910 while reducing his strikeout rate by nearly 10 percent. He hit 12 home runs, drove in 43, and finished second on the team in runs scored (51) and stolen bases (19).
As a sophomore, he tied for fifth in the ACC in base on balls (49) and ended the season by reaching base safely in the final 35 games.
Honeycutt started each of the first 114 games of his UNC career in center field before being sidelined by injury. He set the program record for single-season home runs with 25 as a freshman in 2022 and enters the 2024 campaign with 37 career jacks, 100 RBIs, and 48 stolen bases.
Fall practice continues for the Tar Heels through the end of October, culminating with the annual Blue-Navy Fall World Series, set to begin Oct. 24. UNC will also host exhibition games against Walters State (Sept. 22) and Liberty (Oct. 20).
