CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – UNC newcomers Parks Harber and Shea Sprague have been ranked inside the top 55 impact transfers for the 2024 season by D1Baseball.
Harber made the list at No. 44 after transferring from Georgia and Sprague came in at No. 51, traveling down I-40 from Elon.
Harber split time between first and third base in his three seasons at Georgia, playing in 145 games and making 135 starts. He compiled a .286 career batting average with 34 home runs, 128 RBIs, and a slugging percentage of .516.
As a junior, Harber started all 53 games (27-1B, 20-3B, 6-DH) for the Bulldogs with a career-high 18 home runs while batting .283 with 56 RBIs and a .917 OPS. He compiled 18 multi-RBI games and 16 multi-hit games. His numbers inside SEC play were exceptional, hitting .300 with nine homers and 31 RBIs, including a walk-off home run to complete a sweep of No. 5 Arkansas, a career-best five-hit, five-RBI game at Auburn and the go-ahead RBI-double in the ninth to beat No. 2 Florida in Gainesville.
Sprague joins the Diamond Heels after spending two seasons at Elon, where he compiled a 13-6 record in 34 appearances. He pitched 152 1/3 innings for the Phoenix and recorded 123 strikeouts against just 32 walks with a 2.36 ERA.
A left-handed pitcher from Hanover, Mass., Sprague was a Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-America and All-CAA first-team selection in 2022 after posting a 1.89 ERA during his rookie season. The following season, he made 15 starts and threw over 90 innings. He transferred as the school's Division I all-time ERA leader.
Fall practice continues for the Tar Heels through the end of October, culminating with the annual Blue-Navy Fall World Series, set to begin Oct. 24. UNC will also host an exhibition game against Liberty on Oct. 20.
