Solodkin Named Softball's Director Of Sports Performance

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Softball head coach Megan Smith Lyon announced the addition of Jorge Solodkin to her staff on Wednesday. Solodkin will serve as the Tar Heels' director of sports performance.
"We're thrilled to welcome Jorge to the Tar Heel Softball family," Smith Lyon said. "He brings an enormous amount of energy and his role of leading our technology and analytics efforts will be invaluable to our program and our player's development."
Solodkin arrives in Chapel Hill after spending last season as the volunteer assists coach for the Christopher Newport University softball team, Division III school in Newport News, Va.
"I am beyond honored and blessed to join Coach Smith Lyon's incredible staff here at UNC and contribute to building a championship culture and program," Solodkin said. "The family-first environment she brings to the table along with her passion and excitement for the game is a recipe for success that I'm excited to learn from and be a part of."
Solodkin, a native of Millburn, N.J., earned his degree in physical education, and worked as a PE teacher from 2019 to 2021 after his graduation from William Paterson University. His coaching career began in 2018 when he became a part-time assistant baseball coach at Millburn High School, where he served from 2018-2021.
He moved into the softball world in 2019 when he joined the staff at Montclair State University, serving as a part-time assistant in 2019 and 2020. In the 2021 season, Solodkin joined the softball staff at Bloomfield College He also served as a volunteer assistant softball coach at Seton Hall University from 2021-2022.
Solodkin is the owner of Evolution Catching, providing lessons, camps and clinics throughout the country since 2018.
He was a catcher on the baseball team at William Patterson from 2014-2018.
