Berryman Leads Tar Heels On Day One At Virginia Tech Invitational

BLACKSBURG— Six Tar Heels competed in six events on the first day of the two-day Virginia Tech Invitational.
Peyton Berryman was the highlight of Friday's performance from the Tar Heels as she finished second in the unseeded women's pole vault. She won last year's pole vault with a best jump of 3.93 meters at the Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg.Â
In the women's 300m, Stoughton finished sixth overall with a time of 40.14, while Stakun-Pickering also finished sixth overall with a time of 105.85 in the men's 500m.
In the men's 300m, Bryce Kazmaier set a personal best of 37.33, while Issac Young finished just ahead of him with a time of 37.30.
On Saturday, day two of the Virginia Tech Invitational, nine Tar Heels will compete in six field events. The day kicks off with the Tar Heel tandem of senior Sydney Banks competing in the women's high jump and freshmen Megan Kelleghan competing in the seeded women's pole vault at 11:00 a.m.
