CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – A heroic effort on Friday night solidified North Carolina women's soccer freshman Linda Ullmark's spot as the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon.
Her memorable performance also earned her National Player of the Week honors by Top Drawer Soccer.
This marks the third weekly award for the Tar Heels this season, and in back-to-back weeks. Olivia Thomas was named the ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 27 and Trinity Armstrong was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 24.
Ullmark was part of every scoring sequence in North Carolina's big 3-2 win over No. 19 Virginia on Friday in Chapel Hill, helping the Tar Heels remain undefeated in conference play. Not only did she find the back of the net for the first time in her young career, but the freshman made it a brace with the game-winning goal.
Her first goal came in the 30th minute to level the score at 1-1. She then had an assist in the 38th minute to again even the score at 2-2. Ullmark found what proved to be the game-winner in the 74th minute for the first brace of her career.
She is the first Tar Heel to have 5+ points in a game this year and the third to register a brace. Ullmark also became just the third UNC freshman to record 5+ points in a single contest since 2018, and the first since 2021.
The Buffalo, New York native has started all 12 matches and ranks fifth on the team with 978 minutes. She has logged a full 90 minutes in five matches and is tied for third on the roster with eight points behind two goals and four assists.
Ullmark and the Tar Heels return to the pitch on Thursday, Oct. 3, against Louisville. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET at Dorrance Field and tickets are available for purchase here.
